From Finance Leader to Executive Leader: Developing Your CFO Playbook

The demands on today’s CFO are relentless, but the most effective finance leaders don’t have fewer demands; they handle them better. As the role grows from running the numbers to leading the enterprise, success depends less on technical expertise and more on how you lead yourself, your team, and your organization. This fast-paced, interactive 45-minute virtual session will give CFOs and aspiring finance leaders practical tools, quick self-assessments, and proven strategies. You will learn to work at the top of your license, build high-performing teams, prioritize ruthlessly, and lead with greater confidence and impact. You will leave with clear, actionable commitments you can carry out the very next morning.
Learning Objectives
- Separate the decisions only the CFO should own from those to delegate, using two lenses: “top of your license” and “revolving-door vs. one-way-door” decisions.
- Write a personal leadership brand statement and pick one renewal practice that sustains executive endurance.
- Rate your team’s current and desired levels of teamness and confidence, and use the two-step on-the-fly coaching approach (Spot It, Share It).
- Tell signal from noise in their workload and diagnose what’s missing when a change initiative stalls.
- Commit to one action each at the Self, Team, and Organization levels, with a first step for tomorrow morning.
